JIMMIE DeVAULT Okolona - James D. DeVault, 87, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at his residence. An Okolona native, he was born January 20, 1925 to the late Jesse and Sue DeVault. He, with his wife, owned and operated the Dixie-Bell Cleaners before retiring in 2003. He loved his wife dearly and his pet's. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Okolona. He was a sergeant assigned to Headquarters First Airborne Army in Germany, England and Italy serving from 1943 to 1945 as Chief Clerk of the Preventive Medicine Division during World War II. During this time, he received the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Oak Leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star. Services with military honors will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Eric Boyskin officiating. Interment will be at the Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Nelle Bailey DeVault of Okolona; nephews Jerry and David DeVault of Houston, Texas and John DeVault of Tupelo; one niece George Ann Thompson of Dayton, Ohio; his caregiver, Pat Lockhart of Okolona. Pallbearers include Tommy Alexander, Jerry Morgan, Rev. Jay Stanley, Danny Bailey and Allen Lockhart Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the funeral home.
