JIMMIE ELIZABETH BRATTON
Tupelo - JIMMIE ELIZABETH BRATTON, 98, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Walthall, she was born January 26, 1909 to the late Walter and Mabel Hughes Trainor. She was a graduate of Walthall High School. She had lived over 70 years in Tupelo. Her first job was working in the cotton mills, and later she worked as a seamstress for Reed Mfg., Milam and Lucky Star. In the 70's, she owned and operated the first women's exercise gym in Tupelo, Slenderette Salon. Her last job was at Blount's Big Star, working as a server. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and crocheting. After her health declined she enjoyed watching Billy Graham and Charles Stanley on television. She was a member of Bissell Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving and friendly person who always had a smile on her face.
Graveside Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tupelo Memorial Park with Rev. David Lann officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Janet Hendrix, (Tim Foy) of Tupelo; her great-grandson, Tyler Hendrix of Tupelo; one brother, Thomas Trainor of Saddleback, California; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Kermit Bratton; two sons, Durrell Bratton and Donald Bratton.
Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
