Jewell Hutcheson

December 21, 1922 — July 1, 2008

Old Union - Jewell Hutcheson, 85, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a short illness. A Colt, Arkansas native, she was born December 21, 1922 to George W. and Lucille Clark Collie. She married Willard Hutcheson and moved shortly afterwards to Guntown. She has been a resident in the Old Union Community since 1959. For the past 45 years, she was a member of Old Union Baptist Church. She retired after a number of years from Shannon Elementary School where she worked as a cook in the cafeteria. She enjoyed cooking, flowers and gardening.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Old Union Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Langley officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Godfrey and her husband, Clyde, of Verona, Evelyn Boyd of Belden, Barbara Mask of Belden, and Tammy Sudduth and her husband, Tim of the Chesterville, Community; two sons, Gary Hutcheson and his wife, Nancy, of Shannon, and Stan Hutcheson of Shannon; six sisters, Aileen Buck of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Barbara Pounds of Belmont, Ophelia Thompson and her husband, Hershel, of Marked Tree, Arkansas, Trubelle Bessett of Jonesboro, Ada Penter of Jonesboro, and Gail Watters, of Benton, Arkansas; one brother, George H. (G.W.) Collie and his wife, Eleanor, of Canyon Lake, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Jeff Godfrey, Sandra Long, Steve Boyd, Bobby Mask, Gary Wayne Mask, Kayla Mask, Dallas Hutcheson, Jordan Hutcheson, Stone Hutcheson, Tiffany Sudduth, Trevor Sudduth, Robbie Hutcheson, Pamela Robinson, Melissa Putt; twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and a special friend, Marie Burleson, of Shannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Lucille Clark Collie; her husband, Willard Hutcheson who died, July 13, 1980; one son, Wayne Hutcheson; one brother, Bruce Collie; two sons-in-law, William Boyd, and Eddie Mask.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Godfrey, Steve Boyd, Dallas Hutcheson, Gary Mask, Bobby Mask and Robbie Hutcheson.

Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the funeral home.
