JEWELL N. RILEY
Tupelo - Jewell Riley, 79, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. An Itawamba Co. native and long time resident of Tupelo, she was born September 28, 1926 to the late Ben and Beadie Nanney. She worked for many years as a seamstress. She enjoyed helping others and going to Saturday night singings at the Mooreville Truck Stop. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Mr. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Dorsey Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Riley of Tupelo; one son, Fred Brooks of Tupelo; one sister, Geraldine Shrader of North Richland Hills, Tex.; four grandchildren, Roger Brooks, and wife, Sonya, Rhonda Jennings, and husband, Tommy, James "Buddy" Watts, and Kelly Ryder; eight great-grandchildren, Hunter Brooks, Kristen Brooks, Kelsey Brooks, Summer Jennings, Corey Jennings, Harley Ryder, Hailey Ryder, and Hannah Ryder; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, and friends in East Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Watts, one brother, Leonard Nanney, two sisters, Laura Jean Berryman and Dorothy Walton.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Pardin, David Riley, Larry Riley, Tommy Scruggs, John Riley, Clint Riley, Mark Patton, Julian Riley, Larry Glenn Riley, Dee Riley and Russell Pardin.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
