JETTIE L. BURCHAM Tupelo - Jettie L. Burcham, 89, died Friday, August 17, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born July 6, 1923 to Elisha and Trannie Isaballe Tindall Gillentine. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a homemaker while raising her children. After her children began to leave home, she began working as a seamstress in several area garment manufacturing companies. What many people remember her by is when she worked a number of years in alterations at J. C. Penny's. She was married to Douglas Burcham who died December 25, 1977 and later widowed her second husband, Bert Gurney February 14, 2004. She enjoyed needle crafts and was particularly known for her crocheting talents. She also had an extensive doll collection that numbered well over a 1000 dolls. She was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday August, 19, 2012 at Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Kerry Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Keys Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include one son, Mackie Burcham (Brenda) of Mooreville; four daughters, Sheron Cockrell of Mantachie, Linda Stanley (Jerry) of Fulton, Maretta Hammock of Mooreville, Darlene Doster (Mike) of Smithville; fifteen grandchildren, Gayle Cockrell, Marsha Kiser, Christopher Cockrell, and Derek Cockrell all of Mantachie, Vickie Jones of Booneville, Jennifer Smith of Fulton, Erik Stanley of Fulton, Nat Burcham of Nettleton, Clarissa Burcham of Mooreville, Michael Hammock of Smithville, Earl Hammock of Guntown, Christey Roberts of Mantachie, Wade Hammock of Mooreville, Brandie Williams of Nettleton, and Cole Doster of Amory; thirty-two great-granchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first and second husband, one infant son, one great-grandson; three son-in-laws; one brother, J.C. Gillentine; one sister, Marjorie Murrell.
