JESSE MILES
Tupelo - JESSE MILES, 93, died Friday, December 1, 2006, at Green Houses At Traceway after an extended illness. A Tupelo native and life long resident, he was born July 17, 1913 to the late Martin and Ida Leona Hill Miles. Earlier in his life, he was co-owner of S & M Livestock. He later owned Miles Livestock Dealers, Inc., and J & J Truck Leasing. He was married to Jennie Mae Scruggs Miles who preceded him in death August 12, 1987. Until his health declined, he was an active and faithful member of Priceville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He loved his family and his church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim McMillen and Rev. David Layman officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Ken Miles and wife, Jane, of Marion, Ark.; two grandsons, Jonathan Miles and wife, Stacie, of Wayne, Ohio, and Michael Everhart and wife, Lisa, of Crawfordsville, Ark.;one sister, Lorene Wade of Birmingham, Ala.; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jennie Mae Miles; his second wife, Ruby Miles; a son, Gerald Miles; five brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Harvey Anglin, Gerald Adderholt, Fred Cook.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
