JESS NEWCOMB Marietta - Jess Hulon Newcomb, 92, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Itawamba County on March 20, 1921, to Robert and Beatie Garrett Newcomb. He was a farmer and after retirement continued to enjoy his vegetable gardening. He loved to rabbit hunt with his beagles and time spent with his family He was a member of Hills Chapel Baptist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2013 at The Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Castor Buse officiating. Burial will be in Hills Chapel Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of seventy-one years, Cordie Newcomb of Marietta; one daughter, Shirley Newcomb of Booneville; three sons, Ernest Newcomb and Jerry Newcomb (Ann) of Mantachie and Perry Newcomb of Booneville; ten grandchildren, Rebecca White (B.J.) of Mantachie, Stephanie Hill (Josh) of Tremont, Carrie Hopkins (Nathan) of Booneville, Missy Phillips (Tim) of Corinth, Terry Newcomb (Emily) of Mantachie, April Baker of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, Alan Newcomb (Ruby) of Mantachie, Tammy Levike (Webb) of Mantachie and Debbie Newcomb of Kenosha, Wisconsin; sixteen great-grandchilren; eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Sarah Wilson and Wayne Newcomb; four sisters; four brothers; daughter-in-law, Karen Newcomb; and his parents. Pallbearers will be B.J. White, Allen Newcomb, Nathan Hopkins, Terry Newcomb and Tim Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Newcomb and Danny Raper. Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Saltillo Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the funeral account of Mr. Jess Newcomb, C/O W. E. Pegues Funeral Home, P.O.
