Jerry Raines

Lake Piomingo - Jerry Dale Raines, 69, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at his home at Lake Piomingo after a sudden illness. He was born March 29, 1939 in Pontotoc County to Curtis Raines and Elsie Spencer Raines. He worked as a carpenter and brick layer until becoming disabled in 1969. He loved watching boxing on t.v., dismantling old cars, fishing and hunting, and getting together and eating with his family.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include four daughters, Vilicia Marie Woolard, Carnelia Carlene Abbott, and Angela Darlene Raines, all of Saltillo, and Jennifer Raines of Baldwyn; four sons, Roland Dwayne Glosson of San Antonio, Texas, Jerry Jerome Raines and wife, Cathy, of Saltillo, Richard Earl Raines and wife, Mary, of Verona, and Michael Justin Raines of Baldwyn; two brothers, Patrick Raines of Alpine and Barry Raines of Dumas; two sisters, Lorene Burk and Helen Moody, both of Pontotoc; 13 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be noon until service time Saturday at the Saltillo funeral home.
