JERRY ANN PRATER Tupelo - Jerry Ann Prater, 80, died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Traceway Retirement Community. She was born April 30, 1935 to Francis L. and Irene Gardener Starnes. May 1, 1954, Jerry married Billy Robert Prater. Robert was in the U.S. Army for 23 years. Jerry and Robert loved to travel and help anyone in need. Jerry received her master's in counseling. In 1993 she retired from working for the State of Alabama as a counselor. She previously was an English school teacher and owner of a fabric and sewing shop. She was a very talented painter. She was a member of Assembly of God in Fayette, AL. Memorial service at Montevallo will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Assembly of God Church in Fayette, Al. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday May 14, 2015 at the Alabama National Cemetery. Survivors include one son, Robert Keith Prater (Dawn) of Newnan, GA; two daughters, Lisbeth Ann Prater of Picayune, MS and Rachel Becker (Robert) of Tupelo; eleven grandchildren, Luke Prater of Atlanta, GA, Kathleen Prater of Tempe, AZ, Will Prater of Newnan, GA, Charlotte Prater of Newnan, GA, Calvin Wood (Christy) of Jacksonville, NC, Alan DuBose (Kristen) of Birmingham, AL, Jennifer DuBose of Mobile, AL, Nicole Becker, Danielle Becker, Conrad Becker and Matthew Becker all of Tupelo and one great-granddaughter, Madilyn DuBose, Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Billy Robert Prater and a special aunt, Ozella G. Stough. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project P.O.
