Mooreville - Jerry Wayne Holt, 56, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. A New Albany native, he was born March 14, 1955, to Ronald Earl and Virginia Louise Scruggs Holt. He was a 1973 graduate of W.P. Daniel High School in New Albany. He served in the US Air Force eight years. A longtime resident of Mooreville, he was manager of Savings Oil and had worked for RebeLanes for 13 years. He was an avid bowler and participated in the Chris Wall Memorial Scholarship Tournament with local children. He was also an avid fan of Mississippi State sports, the Atlanta Braves, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Thomas Neal officiating. His son, Timmy Holt will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 28 years, Beverly Thrasher Holt, Mooreville; three daughters, Regina Holt of Mooreville, Trecia Neal (Chad) of Nettleton, and Elecia Melton (Jeremy) of Mooreville; two sons, Jerry W. Holt Jr. (Michelle) of Fulton and Timmy Holt of Mooreville; nine grandchildren; his sister, Debbi Fooshee and a brother, Ronnie Holt (Aileen) of Mooreville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Dave Hartung, Kevin Hartigan, Kevin Wood, Gene Johnson, and Lachlan McIntosh, and Buddy Seay
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
