Tupelo - Jerry W. Gable, 66, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 1, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born June 2, 1949, in Tupelo to Isaac Julius and Vera Blankenship Gable. Jerry was employed by Nash Plumbing for several years, and then joined his brothers-in-law with B&E Plumbing in Tupelo. He went on to become a licensed plumbing contractor and carpenter servicing Northeast Mississippi for more than 35 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Jerry was an accomplished craftsman, spending countless hours in his shop building things for friends and family. He also enjoyed maintaining his lawn and gardening. His greatest joy was time spent with his granddaughters. In his early years he attended Mayfield Church of God in Saltillo and Emmanuel Baptist Church in East Tupelo. In his adult life, he followed the Baptist faith. Services will be Tuesday, August 4th at 2 p.m. at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Kenneth Pollock and Rev. Larry Taylor officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 3rd from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Helen Black Gable; a daughter, Missy Gable Sullivan (Frankie) of Saltillo; a son, Michael Gable (Louise) of Tupelo; three granddaughters, Madison Sullivan of Saltillo and Afton and Ella Michael Gable of Tupelo; three sisters, Evelyn Howard (Bill) of Florala, Alabama, Betty Raines (Troy) of Tupelo, and June McDivitt of Saltillo; one brother, James Gable of Saltillo; one sister-in-law, Nona Little (Bobby) of Saltillo; one brother-in-law, Leon Black (Clara) of Mooreville; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both his parents; two sisters, Margaret Hutcheson and Joan Dunaway; two brothers Johnny Gable and Jimmy Gable. Pallbearers will be Ike Gable, Tony Howard, Brian McDivitt, Roger Raines, Jeff Barnes, Joe Foster, John David Rogers, and Keith Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Deaton, Ray Bailey, Marc Bailey and numerous nephews. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
