Jeffrey A. "Poppy" Stanton

July 21, 1961 — November 1, 2018

Guntown- Jeffrey Allen Stanton, 57, died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee July 21, 1961 to James Allen “Al” and Alice Fay Keys Stanton and was raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In May of 1990, he married Patricia Lynn Payne of Clinton, Tennessee.  After 11 years of service, he retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant and accepted a position with the Department of Army Police at Ft. Benning, Georgia where he attained the rank of Lieutenant before transferring to Tupelo with the National Park Service at the Natchez Trace Parkway Maintenance Department.  Jeffrey was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, camp and shoot his guns. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oak Ridge.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Payne-Stanton of Guntown; three daughters, Summer Lynn Stanton (Kevin) of Mantachie, Savannah Marie Stanton of Guntown and Felicia Marie Stanton of Oliver Springs, Tennessee; grandchildren, Preston Harris of Saltillo and Lance Sharp, Kameron Sharp, Raven Langley, Kambria Langley and Kyler Langley all of Oliver Springs; mother, Fay Stanton; one sister, Ann Stanton of Oak Ridge; special sister-in-law, Becky Payne of Clinton; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Al Stanton.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Saltillo.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues.
