JEAN TURNER Tupelo - Jean Turner, 85, died Thursday, October 15, 2015, at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 4, 1930, to Jacob and Luella Griffit Orr where she was raised. Most of her adult life, she lived in Sedalia, Missouri and retired from the Social Security Administration after twenty-six years of service. In 1987 she moved to Tupelo and worked as the financial secretary of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she was a member. She loved to watch golf, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Price is Right. She was an avid reader, known for her ability to complete and help others solve crossword puzzles. When she wasn't enjoying the company of her family, you would find her playing her hand-held electronic Scrabble game. The family wishes to thank her son Duane for being her loving primary caregiver. A celebration of Jean's life will be 3 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Those left to cherish her memory include her four children, Jan Englert (George), Duane P. Turner, Patti A. Cobb all of Tupelo and Teri Northcraft (Gary) of Overland Park, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Amy D. Wiegand of Chesapeake, Virginia, Kevin Visentin of Guntown, Chris Visentin (Becca) of Saltillo, David Englert of Phoenix, Arizona, Tracy Englert (Andrea) of Chillicothe, Missouri, Zachary D. Cobb of Kansas City, Missouri, Alex Northcraft of Springfield, Missouri and Carli Northcraft of Overland Park, Kansas; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Visentin, Troy Visentin, Jacob Visentin, Drew Visentin, Katherine Wiegand, and Lake Englert. She was preceded in death by her parents: one son, David G. Turner on October 19, 2003; and one sister, Betty June Moulton. Visitation will be 2 until 3 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 408 B Council Circle, Tupelo, MS 38801. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com
