Belden - Shelby Jean Scott, 82, died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Sunflower County on December 18, 1936 to John Richard and Myrtle (Chandler) Scott. She was a graduate of Drew High School and attended Clarke College. Jean worked as a Senior Loan Specialist at Leader Federal Bank in Memphis, Tennessee, before retiring and moving to Tupelo. She loved her family, gardening, pursuing her hobbies and interests, and going out to eat with her dear friend and neighbor, Gennett Hicks. She was a member of Charles Stanley’s InTouch Ministry.
Survivors include: three sisters, Virginia Gonzales of Petal, Johnnie Grissom of Drew, and Nancy Griffin (Warren) of Drew; three brothers, James Scott of Tupelo, Henry Scott of Cleveland, and Richard Scott (Joyce) of Kosciusko; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and dear family friend Gennett Hicks.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; sister-in-law, Janice Scott; brothers-in-law Jerry Grissom and Alex Gonzales; niece, Vickie G. Watts; and nephew, Anthony Nichols.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Rome Cemetery in Rome, Mississippi.
