Tupelo " Jean Kenning Murphree, 81, died Friday, November 14, 2008, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility after an extended illness. A Nashville, Tenn. native, she was born March 26, 1927 to the late Harry James and Lorrine McCord Kenning. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She enjoyed entertaining, travel, and will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and faithful Christian.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at All Saints Episcopal Church with The Rev. Gene Asbury officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m Wednesday at Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville, Tenn. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Ken Murphree and wife, Joellen, of Mooreville; two granddaughters, Rachel Murphree of Washington, DC and Lauren Murphree Mihalcik and husband, David, of Silver Spring, MD; two first cousins, Joan Young and Sue Sanders, all of Nashville; and her sister-in-law, Thelma Johnson of Ocala, Fla..
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Iverson Murphree who died July 2, 1985; a daughter, Barbara Lee Turk; and a grandson, John Owen Murphree.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday in the library of the All Saints Episcopal Church.
