Jane Sudduth

Tupelo - SHIRLEY JANE LONG SUDDUTH, 73, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at her residence after a short illness. She was born May 28, 1934, to the late John Marley and Lena Sory Long of Saltillo. She was a lifelong resident and a member of First Baptist Church. She worked at North Mississippi Medical Center for 21 years, Church Street Elementary School, and Multipurpose Center for the Elderly for seven years. . She enjoyed riding her lawnmower, gardening, and playing golf. She loved her family and had many friends. She will be missed by all.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Randy Von Kanel officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John Sudduth of Tupelo; three sons, Phil Sudduth and wife, Rosemary, Mike Sudduth and wife, Debbie, Tim Sudduth and wife, Tammy, all of Tupelo; his sister, Evelyn Glass of Westpoint and Saltillo, his sister-in-law, Jean Long of Saltillo; four grandchildren, James Sudduth and wife, Cherri, of Alabama, Matthew Sudduth, Tiffany Sudduth, and Trevor Sudduth, all of Tupelo; two great-grandchildren, Mary Kathryn and Annabeth Sudduth, of Alabama; a large number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant twin brother; five sisters, Nell Jackson, Faye Ledbetter, Irene Pond, Susie McDonald, Doris Mabry; and two brothers, Jim Long and Will Long.

Pallbearers will be James Sudduth, Matthew Sudduth, Bill Long, David Long, John Price, and John Mabry.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
