JAMIE RAY ELLIS
Saltillo - Jamie Ray Ellis, 65, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1947 in Tupelo to Durward and Doris Ellis. A Vietnam veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and served in the National Guard Reserve. He was a 32 degree Mason and Shriner and loved trying to help Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 842, Tupelo. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, refinishing old furniture and golfing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was the Constituent Liaison for Senator Roger Wicker?s office in Tupelo and was very devoted to his job, helping all veterans who had served. He was a member of Saltillo United Methodist Church.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Green officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Judy Crans Ellis of Saltillo; two daughters, Claire Ellis Harrelson (Jason M.) of Saltillo and Katie Ellis Simmons (Chad) of Olathe, Kansas; one son, Jason Ray Ellis (Kami) of Saltillo; one brother, Terry Ellis (Jackie) of Saltillo; his parents, Durward and Doris Ellis of Saltillo; nine grandchilren, Ashton Ellis, McKenna Ellis and Madison Ellis of Saltillo, Ethen Harrelson, Gabriel Harrelson Mary Ellis Harrelson and Evelyn Harrelson of Saltillo, Ella Kate Simmons and Raelynn Simmons both of Olathe, Kansas.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 842 of Tupelo.
Visitation will be 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the funeral home in Saltillo.
