James Ray Wood

James Ray Wood, 77, died unexpectedly Friday, November 16, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Saltillo, January 28, 1941 to James Scott and Mary Sue Sullivan Wood. He grew up in the Birmingham Ridge Community and attended Itawamba Junior College. He worked as a National Sales Manager with Warner Electra Atlantic Music Entertainment in the record division. James loved music, spending time with his family, ancestry research and being outdoors. He attended Saltillo First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Kim Pastis Westhouse and her husband, Chris, Lisa Wood Roberts and Tracy Wood Crysup all of the Birmingham Ridge Community ; one son, James Scott Wood of the Birmingham Ridge Community; one sister, Mary Scott Knight and her husband, Harold of Starkville; ten grandchildren, Jay Pastis and his wife, Kelly of Wiggins, Alexis Glidewell and her husband, Jason of Saltillo, Andrew Pastis of Saltillo, Anthony Pastis of Saltillo, Wesley Roberts of Saltillo, Jim Roberts of Birmingham Ridge, Caitlin Crysup of Starkville, Matthew Crysup of Memphis, Paige Wood of Baldwyn, and Payton Wood of Baldwyn; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Loden Wood; one brother, Joe Wood.

Services honoring his life will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues. Graveside services will follow in McNeil Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Saltillo.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Gassaway, Jimmy Long, Jimmy Bucy, Charles Wood, Johnny Bruce and Jim Long.

Memorials may be made to The Maggie Foundation to help provide supplies and medicine to those suffering from Type I Diabetes, CREATE Foundation, The Maggie Project, 213 West Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38804.

Services will be live streamed and recorded for those who may not be able to attend at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
