James H. Warren
Saltillo—James Harrison Warren, 87, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Lee County, he was born July 30, 1935 to James Alex Warren and Maggie Wilson Warren. James worked for many years as a diesel mechanic for Marshal Durbin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. James was a member of New Prospect Primitive Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He loved tinkering with old tractors, gardening, and fishing.
James leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Edna Ruth Prather Warren of Saltillo; two sons, Dennis K. Warren of Mantachie and James D. Warren of Mooreville; grandchildren, Crimson Warren, Stoney Smith, Lexi Newman Warren (Hunter), Adam Warren, Jeffrey Warren, Forrest Warren, Jeremy Warren, Tyler Warren, Hunter Warren, B.J. Warren, and Jessica Warren; sister, Nancy Cooper; brothers, Richard, Calvin, Daniel, Ray, Morris, and Arlis Warren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip Anthony Warren and Deverix Wayne Warren; and sisters, Mavis Harville, Deborah Pettus, and Barbara Riggs.
Graveside services with military honors will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at Old Union Cemetery in the Macedonia Community with Elder Calvin Warren, Elder Rusty Wise, and Rev. Cobran Edwards officiating. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the arrangements.
