James W.

Spring Hill Community - James W. Buddy Dillard, 76, went to his Heavenly Home Friday, July 1, 2011, at his residence after a short illness. He was born January 23, 1935, to James Leonard and Carrie Ewing Dillard. He was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he taught Adult Sunday School. For 34 years he worked at Mid South Packers of Tupelo and then went on to work 9 years for Plumrose in Booneville until his retirement. He was an avid reader and an avid sports fan, especially baseball. He loved to garden and play cards. But most of all he loved his family.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2011 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Caster Buse and Rev. Mike Yielding officiating. Burial will be in Center Star Cemetery.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 26 years, Jan Dillard of the Spring Hill Community, two daughters, Mandy Robbins (John) of Birmingham Ridge Community, Jennifer Noel (John) of Saltillo; two sons, Mike Dillard (Sherry) of Saltillo, Terry Dillard (Kathy) of Huntsville, Alabama; three step-daughters, Karen Wallace (Roy) of Southaven, Sandy Hankins of Saltillo and Vickie Duke (Toby) of New Albany; one sister, Laurene Easterling of Saltillo; two brothers, Charles Dillard (Juanita) of Spring Hill Community and Lamar Dillard (Meredith) of Mooreville; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Miller (Steven), Jordan Dillard, Mark Scruggs, Anna Robbins, Mac Dillard, Carley Noel, Brittany Hankins, Joshua Houston, Sammie Parker, Alley Duke and Corey Duke; five great-grandchildren, Analyn Miller, Makinley Neal, Nash Parker, Andrew Miller and Austin Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ewing Dillard; one sister, Doris Poteet.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, Mark Scruggs, Jordan Dillard, Mac Dillard, Johnny McKissick, Gary McKissick, Brad Dillard, Steve Dillard, Nathan Dillard, Jackie Dillard, Bobby Dillard and Fred Dillard.

Honorary pallbears will be Jack Johnson, Gill Simmons, Max Stephens, Tim Hare and Aubrey Harris.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
