JAMES ROBERT SMITH
SaltilloJames Robert Smith, 83, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, in Ocean Springs after a sudden illness. A Saltillo native, he was born May 8, 1923 to the late William Henry and Myrtle Long Smith. He worked as a spray painter with Tupelo Manufacturing. He enjoyed music, especially the guitar and mandolin. He was a member of the Mayfield Church of Christ and loved to study his Bible.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Mayfield Church of Christ with Ministers Leon Willis and Larry Lott officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery. W.E. Pegues is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita M. Warren Smith of Saltillo; his daughter, Michelle Simmons of Tupelo; two sons, Elton Arrans of Kirkville, and Robert Dale Smith of Saltillo; his sister, Helen Stanford of Saltillo; his brother, Hubert Smith of Ocean Springs; five grandchildren, Dusty Weekes, Casie Smith, Nathaniel Smith, Zack Smith, and Alex Smith.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Zelma Stanford, and two brothers, Charles Smith and Tray Smith.
Pallbearers will be the deacons and elders of Mayfield Church of Christ.
Honorary Pallbearers will be James Dill, Johnny Brazeal, and Butch Simmons.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
