James "Junior" Smith

JAMES "JUNIOR" SMITH Blue Springs - James "Junior" Smith, 59, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. A Pontotoc native, he was born October 22, 1953, to James Alton and Mary Alfie Pritchard Smith. He served as leadman in the furniture industry for ten years. He enjoyed traveling, cruises and most of all, watching Gunsmoke. He loved his family and cherished time spent with them. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry Ethridge and Rev. Virgil Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Tammy Smith of Endville; two daughters, April McCullough and fiance Patrick Pettit of Pontotoc and Cynthia Butler of Theodore, Alabama; one son, James Nicholas Smith of Mobile, Alabama; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, JoAnne Hager (Johnny) and Kathy Skipper both of Mobile, Alabama and Debbie Broadus (Glenn) of Theodore, Alabama; one brother, Rickey Smith (Terry) of Theodore, Alabama; his mother, Mary Nichols of Mobile, Alabama; his mother-in-law, Ruby Nichols of Endville; a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Smith, Sr. and his grandparents. Pallbearers will be Richard, James and Blake Nichols, Sidney Bonnecarrere, Patrick Pettit, Artie Chapman, Jimmy Williams and Rickey Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Palmer. Visitation will be 5 - 9:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the funeral home.
