James "Jim" Repult, Sr.

May 18, 1937 — March 25, 2019

Tupelo- James C. Repult, Sr. “Papaw” passed away peacefully in his sleep, Monday, March 25, 2019. The youngest of three children, he was born in Tupelo on May 18, 1937 to Carl Foster Mable Harrison Repult. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1955 and had attended Itawamba Community College on a band scholarship and had also attended Mississippi State University. As a young boy, he worked as a car hop for Dudie’s Diner and sacked groceries at Page’s Supermarket to buy his family’s first TV when he was 11. He served in the Mississippi National Guard for 8 years after graduating high school and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Earlier in his life, he managed many Kroger locations in North Mississippi and was co-owner of MLM Clothiers for 25 years. Later in life, he was president and owner of Vista Development Corp. and managing broker of Prudential Magnolia Realty where he developed Gun Club Subdivision and was instrumental in the development of Thompson Square.

In 1963, he married Sue McCullough and welcomed three sons into the world. James devoted his life to his family and loved watching it grow. He enjoyed spending quality time with his sons and grandsons at their hunting camp in the Mississippi Delta where he took charge in the kitchen. He also enjoyed duck hunting, golfing and mowing his grass but the most important thing to him was spending time with his wife and family.

Jim had been active in the community for many years, including having served on the board of North Mississippi Medical Center, as Commissioner of Tupelo Housing Authority Board, Chairman of Lee United Neighbors and the State Board of Health. He was also a member of many realtor organizations including the Northeast Mississippi Board of Realtors where he was chosen as Realtor of the Year in 1992 and had also served as president.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue McCullough Repult; three sons, John Repult and his wife, Paige, Mac Repult and his wife, Julie and Jimmy and his wife, Amanda; five grandchildren, Cosby, McCarthy Ann, Will, Mary Carver and Jace Repult; sister, Shirley; one niece; and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edith Harris Reeves; and two brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until service time Thursday, March 28, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring his life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Father Henry Shelton officiating. Graveside services will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be George Taylor, Danny Hooker, Benny Randle, William Holden, Sid Holcomb, Jim Floyd, Raymond Wilson and Sam Hobson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Benton Hilbun, Joe Savery, Jim Sneed, Charles Rousseau, Steve Mattison and Bob Aycock.

Services will be live streamed and recorded for those who may not be able to attend at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
