Tupelo - James E. Ponders, 76, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in Tupelo. He was born December 22, 1941 to Eldridge Ponders and Nora Dillard Ponders in Lee County. He was a self employed, lifelong carpenter. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and visiting with his children, grandchildren, and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Sandra Ponders of Tupelo; two children, Bobbi Lynn Godfrey and her husband Jeff of Old Union, and James W. Ponders and his wife Samantha of Mooreville; three grandchildren, Shelby Godfrey and fiancé Jacob Creely, Savana Ponders and Colin Ponders; one brother Carl Ponders and his wife Virginia of Union Community and a sister Ruth Johnson of Nettleton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Jo Ann Morgan and Mary Ponder.
