NETTLETON - James Pruitt Morris, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. An Alabama native, he was born June 24, 1927, to the late James Jackson and Mary Francis Langley Morris. He was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nettleton. He was a retired maintenance man for the Rex Plaza Inn. He loved talking on the phone, gospel singing and fishing.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Richmond Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Sammy Raper and the Rev. Ricky Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery. W. E Pegues Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Reba Aline Martin Morris of Nettleton; one daughter Melissa Dodd (Richard) of Amory; two sons James Larry Morris (Rita) of Shannon and Jimmy Dale Morris (Margie) of Mooreville; one step daughter Linda Mallory (Gerald) of Shannon; two sisters Flora Fennell (Benson) of Tupelo and Kora Pruitt (Ruble) of Red Bay, AL; one brother Grover Morris of Shannon; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Pauline Martin and Arine Whitehead; and one brother Nelson Morris.

Pallbearers include Chris and Andrew Dodd, Darrell, Tommy and James Morris, Matthew Null, Josh Hester and William Parker.

Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and on Monday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
