James Taylor McKinney, 60, died Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Sanctuary Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born December 11, 1958, to Luther Excell and Jimmy Lee Clark McKinney. Early in life, James proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Later in life, he worked a number of years in residential construction. He was an avid fisherman and a lover of animals.
Survivors include daughter, Taylor McKinney (Josh Estes) of Mooreville; one granddaughter, Riley Kate Estes of Mooreville; two nephews, Corey McKinney of Georgia and Camaron Groves of Saltillo; and two great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Jimmy Lee McKinney; sister, Bonita Hester; brother, Terry McKinney; and nephew, Shaun Morton.
Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors, Tupelo.
