Fulton - James E. Lyons, 73, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at The Meadows in Fulton after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born February 20, 1935 to Thomas and Annie Marie Lyons. He lived most of his life in Tupelo, but lived in Durma the past 16 years. Earlier in his life, he worked for Mid-south Packer and later drove a truck for Savings Oil. He also worked with the Tupelo Fire Department for a number of years. He enjoyed attending auctions.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery out from Plantersville.
Survivors include one son, Greg Lyons of Chicago, IL.; one brother, George Lyons of Tupelo; one sister, Deborah Aron of Houlka; his special friend and caregiver, Helen Melton of Derma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Elmo Lyons.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
