RED LYONS Saltillo - James "Red" Lyons, 65, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at his daughter's residence in the Springhill Community. He was born August 30, 1946 to Mary Jane Smith and Robert Lyons. He had served in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion. Earlier in his life he had lived about 10 years in Chicago, Illinois where he owned his own automotive mechanic and body shop. He returned to the Saltillo area where he drove a truck for Plum-Rose a number of years. He lastly worked for over 9 years with Columbia Rope. He was a Master Mason of Saltillo Masonic Lodge #294, a 32 Scottish Rite and a Noble of the Hamasa Shrine.He was a member of Saltillo United Methodist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery east of Saltillo with military honors and Masonic rites. Survivors include his wife of 31 years Mary Ricketts Lyons of Saltillo; eight children, James William Lyons of Pratts, Lisa Lyons Luttrell (James) of Saltillo, Ginger Lyons George ( Mark) of Unity, Carl Flemming of Saltillo, Debra Tackett (Rick) of Michagan, Cynthia Dunlap (Jerry) of Tupelo, Brittany Lyons Willis of Saltillo, and Brandon Hollis Lyons of Saltillo; one sister, Martha Bragg of Gulfport; twelve grandchildren,Courtney Beth, Robert, Allie, Leslie, Jennifer, Katelynn, Cody, Gabbrial, Michael, Bradly, Crissy, and Jeffery, and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Virgil Lyons; two sons, Robert Paul Lyons, I, and David Earl Wood, and one grandson Jamie Tackett. Pallbearers will be James Luttrell, Mark George, Jerry Dunlap, Robert Paul Lyons II, Cyle Martin, Thomas Mallett, Josh Mallett, and Justin Mallett.
