Mooreville - James Woodson Lansdell, 86, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born July 24, 1928 to the late Samuel Cleveland David and Sarah Rene Pannell Lansdell. J.W. was a native of Mooreville. He loved his farm, mules, horses, tractors, children, grandchildren, and his dog, Scooter. He was an active member of West Mooreville Baptist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at West Mooreville Baptist Church, with Mr. Sammy Lansdell and Rev. Robert Winters officiating. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include two sons, Tony Lansdell, Jay Lansdell (Debbie) of Mooreville; three daughters, Mitzi Lansdell, Kim Dye (Greg), Nancy Goodin; one brother, David Lansdell; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; four sisters, and one son, Steve Lansdell. Pallbearers will be Mac Ransom, Bryan Lansdell, Owen Dye, James Sheffield, Craig Stewart and Brad Marcy.
