Tupelo—James Auzell Kidd, age 84, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at his home in Tupelo. He was born July 21, 1939 in Pontotoc, the son of Bolan Auzell Kidd and Qubell Young Kidd. A lifelong resident of Northeast Mississippi, James worked 44 years in the paint department of Delta International until his retirement. He was the widower of Mildred Faye Kidd and they enjoyed 62 years together before her passing on December 10, 2022. James was a faithful member of Monument Drive Baptist Church. He enjoyed tinkering on lawnmowers and his dog, Blitz, was a constant companion. He found great joy in spending time with his loving family who will miss him greatly.
James leaves behind two sons, David Mitchell Kidd and Gerald Allen Kidd, both of Tupelo; his grandson, Andrew Warner Kidd; two great-grandchildren, Benson Warner Kidd and Maizley Reign Kidd; and his siblings, Earl Kidd, Billy Rex Kidd, Robert Kidd, Rickey Kidd, Shirley Hughes, Beverly Stidham, Patsy Stokes, and Peggy Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother Jimmy Lynn Kidd.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday December 2, 2023 at Pegues, Tupelo. Services celebrating his life will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Tim Roaten officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
