J. W. HARRELSON Tupelo - James William Harrelson, 83, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Elrod, North Carolina on August 19, 1928 to Boyd and Vallie Vernell Moody Harrelson. He was a United States Marine veteran and served on the USS Bexar. He retired after thirty-five plus years from Dickerson Construction serving in many capacities including Vice-President. . Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Chris McAlilly officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. Survivors include his two daughters, Helen Dyan Smith (Tommy) of Tupelo and Valarie Lynn York (Mike) of Dorsey; four grandchildren, Thomas Christopher Smith (Dana), Rebecca Lynn Tucker (Michael), Joshua Matthew Estes (Stephanie) and Veronica Dyan Ruth (Josh); two step-grandchildren, James Edwin York (Brittany) and Christy Ann Ling (Eric); eight great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Colby Kyle, Tyler, Bridges, Tripp, Brittany, Meg and Grier; three step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Tyler of Loris, S.C.; one brother, Freddie Thomas Harrelson (Nancy) of Florence, S.C.; two nephews, Ricky Harrelson and Thomas Carroll Harrelson; one niece, Karen Hargrove. He was preceded in death by his son, James W. "Rocky" Harrelson, Jr.; his wife, Mary Little Harrelson; the mother of his children, Hazel Helen Jackson Harrelson; one brother, Boyd Allen Harrelson. Pallbearers will be Chris and Tim Smith, Michael Tucker, Josh Ruth, Josh Estes and Ed York Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
