TUPELO - James E. "Midge" Gilmore, 65, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 17, 1943, to Jessie A. and Marie Ellis Gilmore. He was a longtime resident of State Park Road Community. He was a retired employee of the North Mississippi Medical Center and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Baptist. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and he loved watching the Atlanta Braves and old Western movies on the television.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in Tupelo with the Rev. Horace Barnes officiating and the Church Group providing the musical selections. Burial will be at Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Sherry and Deb, both of Mooreville; three brothers, J.W. "Bud" Gilmore (Judy) of Verona, Sam Thomas Gilmore (Audie) of State Park Road Community and Joe Gilmore (Linda) of Tupelo; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gilmore; his parents; one infant sister.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Visitation will be from noon to service time today at the funeral home.
