James C. Chism

Saltillo - James C. Chism, 76, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born June 19, 1934 to James Marion and Roxie Anna Hood Chism. A longtime resident of Saltillo, he was a truck driver for Scruggs Farm Supply for nearly 60 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed playing dominoes with family and friends and loved walking his little dog, Rusty. He was a member of Beech Springs Freewill Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 24, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Dennis Kizzire officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Frances Robinson Chism of Saltillo; four sisters, Jimmie Hester (Clinton) of Shannon, Alice Lyles (Kenneth) of Auburn Community, Patsy Washington (Wayne) of Tupelo, and Peggy Hayes of Tupelo; his grandson, Richard Chism of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dale Chism; a sister, Bell Umfress; three brothers, Burt, Noonan, and Bill Chism..

Pallbearers will be Chris Franks, Mitchell Scruggs, Tony Milam, Louis Cervantes, Scott Milam, and Danny Robinson.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
