James Cayson

August 31, 1929 — June 8, 2011

Mooreville - James Marvin Wormy Cayson, 81, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a short illness. A Tupelo native, he was born August 31, 1929 to Clinton and Cera Cayson. He graduated from Mooreville High School. He was a shop foreman for Mid-South Packers for many years. He was an avid stock car builder and racer. He loved horses and was involved with trading and horse training. He brought team roping to this area and was a mentor to many young people in this sport. He was also an avid deer hunter and fisherman.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bishop Wayne Thorn officiating with musical selections by his grandson, Chance Dickerson. Burial will be in Boguefala Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Jennie Edge (Wayne) of Fulton, Maria Presley (Rick) of Tupelo and Sonya Welu of Sevierville, Tennessee; two sons, Jim Cayson (Connie) and Joe Cayson (Jan) both of Mooreville; eleven grandchildren, Dawn St. Charles (Jim), Tim Edge (Lacie), Kristie Denton (Alan), Nicole Enis (Mark), Justin Dickerson, Aaron Cayson, Cody Cayson (Melissa), Chance Dickerson, Casey Cayson (Mandy), Tyler Cayson and Seth Cayson; six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Cayson, who died in 2000; one infant son, Richard Cayson; his parents; one brother, Burton Cayson, one son-in-law, Dennis Welu; his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Annie Lee Lansdell.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Visitation will be 5 8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the funeral home.
