JAMES C. WILLIAMS
Tupelo - James Cleveland "Bear" Williams, 78, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born September 3, 1937, to James T. and Lular Mae Lansdell Williams. He was the widower of Kathleen Umphress Williams. He was a former dispatcher for Tombigbee E. P. A. James was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Palmetto Methodist Church.
Survivors include son, Bruce Allen Williams (Joanna) of Palmetto; daughter, Debbie Mackey (Jimmy) of Birmingham Ridge; daughter-in-law, Julia Presley of Palmetto; brothers, Rex Williams (Cheryl) of Virginia, Gaylon Williams (Gail) of Tupelo, Rowland Williams (Joyce) of Wren; sister, Patricia Dodson (Benny) of Virginia; brother-in-law, Lowery Tackett; five grandchildren, Anna Williams and Joe Williams both of Palmetto, Maria Presley of Washington, D. C., Lance Presley (Paige) of Gulfport and Tracey Wilbur (Kevin) of Nashville, Tennessee; step-grandson, Isaac Mackey of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen Williams; son, Ricky Presley; sisters, Brenda Nell Anglin and Dorothy Kitchens; brother, Bobby Williams.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with his brother, Rev. Rex Williams and his grandson, Rev. Lance Presley officiating. A graveside service will follow at Palmetto Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Joe, Matthew, Mark, Nicky, Casey, Wade and Bobby Williams and Charles Wade.
