James "Buddy" Gortney

BUDDY GORTNEY
Hernando ? James R. (Buddy) Gortney, 82, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. due to complications from heart failure. Mr. Gortney was a Lee County native who attended Belden High School and graduated from Mississippi State University with a B S in Business. He retired in 1987 as a Senior Bank Examiner with the Federal Deposit Ins. Corp. An Army Veteran, he served as an auditor in Munich, Germany during the Korean Conflict.
Services honoring his life will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Pastor Don Bollinger officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Connie Michele Gortney of West Palm Beach, Florida; his sisters, Ramona Stodghill of Hattiesburg, and Jacqueline Tamburri (Antonio) and Sharon Kautz (Jerry) all of the Tampa Bay, Florida area; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at W. E. Pegues in Tupelo.
