JAMES ?JIM? DUANE BENNETT



Guntown - James ?Jim? Duane Bennett went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 28, 2014. He was born on March 2, 1938 in Hammond, Indiana to Serge & Pauline Bennett. He married Rita Coggins Bennett on March 20, 1999. Jim retired from North Mississippi Medical Center then continued to volunteer there until he was no longer able. He loved his volunteer family very much. He was a very loving and caring man. He had a smile anytime you saw him. He loved people and especially helping them. He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Saltillo. He was active in the choir and the 55+ club before his illness. Before joining Faith Baptist church he was a member of Oak Ridge Christian Church. There he served as an Elder and also music director.



A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 3:00 pm at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home in Saltillo with Bro. Dale Carr and Bro. Ray Oliver.



He is survived by his wife Rita Bennett; five children, Pam Standefer (Jeff) of Portage, Indiana., Kathy Bennett (Don Yates) of Las Vegas Nevada, Laura Borcicky of Guntown, Bryan Bennett of Cordova, Michigan and Andrew Bennett (Sandi) of Tallmadge, Ohio. Nine grandchildren, Misty Gomez, Jody Dockemeyer, Kevin Standefer, Emily, Melissa & Adam Borcicky, and Justin, Mason & Jack Bennett and five great- grandchildren; special sisters & brothers-in-law, Marilyn & Marty Pitts and Rebecca ?Becky? Coggins, and six very special nieces & nephews; David, Amanda & Parker Ford, Reanna Roberts, Martin & Peyton Pitts, and many more members of his Mississippi extended family.



He is preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Barbara Bennett; his parents; brothers, Richard & William Bennett, and a special sister, Louise Reel & brother-in-law Jack Reel.



Pallbearers will be Marty Pitts, David Ford, Martin Pitts, Kevin Standefer, Adam Borcicky, Mason Bennett, and Jack Bennett.



The family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful staff at Baldwyn Nursing Facility for all the love and care that was shown to Jim as well as to all his family; especially the staff on F Hall.
