Jackie D. Williams

Jackie Dewayne Williams, 63, died Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Sanctuary Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lee County on March 1, 1955 to Mack and Wilma Williams. Early in his life, he served in the U.S. Navy. He worked a number of years as a truck driver before becoming disabled. In May of 2016, Jackie was diagnosed with cancer. Jackie received exceptional care for the last two years from Carmen Raines, FNP-C, Baptist Cancer Center in New Albany and M.D. Anderson in Texas. He fought a very strong battle and never gave up on his faith. He loved riding his tractor and spending time with his friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren. Jackie was a member of Oak Ridge Christian Church in Tupelo.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ramona Freeman Williams of Tupelo; three children, Amy Martin of Saltillo, Jay Williams (Kenzie) of Saltillo and Wesley Williams (Blair) of Tupelo; two brothers, Paul Williams (Martha) of Tupelo and Chuck Williams (Heather) of Tupelo; and six grandchildren, Johnny Reed Martin, Madison Brooke Martin, Emmalyn Rose Williams, Harper Grace Williams , Weston Luke Williams and Georgia Blair Nanney; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger Dale Williams and Charlie "Boo" Williams; and two sisters, Beverly Jane Robinson and Angie Williams Riley.

Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 and one hour prior to services on Monday at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Dale Carr officiating. Graveside services will follow at Lee Memorial Park in Verona.

Pallbearer will be Jay Williams, Wesley Williams, Justin Herndon, Jonathan King, Thomas Taylor, Brad Coggins, Jacob Clemons and David Schuch.



Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Thompson, Roger Williams, Billy Scruggs, Jerry Scruggs, Butch Edwards and Aaron Parnell.
