Jack Kellum Johnson

January 15, 1939 — November 18, 2022

Jack Johnson, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:12 pm on November 18, 2022, after a valiant fight with Myastenia Gravis and Parkinson’s disease. He was born on January 15, 1939 to Buck and Hazel Kellum Johnson. Jack placed his faith in Christ as his Lord and Savior 37 years ago , claiming the promise of eternal life (John 5:24) and served as an elder at Redeemer/Covenant Life Church, PCA for many years. Jack was employed with Community Federal, later Merchants and Farmers Bank for 42 years. He retired as Vice President of Operations in 1999. He was on the Tombigbee Electric Power Board of Directors 12 years. Jack and Mary were active in the ballroom dance community prior to his illness. They also were avid travelers and saw all states except Hawaii. They were lifetime members of the Good Sam camping club, Tombigbee Indians chapter. Jack was a pillar in his church, in his family and in his community. Most importantly, he endeavored to love and serve his Lord faithfully all his days.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Johnson, his son, Steve Johnson, and his daughter, Susan Scholl (David). He was the best Pap ever to his eight grandchildren: Jon Weiand, Mary Ruth Henderson(Luke), Katie Grace Cowart (Sam), Tim Weiand, Sarah Wells (Taji), Nate Weiand (Lauren), Hudson Weiand (Lillian), Ellie Weiand, and 13 great grandchildren and three step grandchildren, Isabella, Samuel, and Sophia Scholl. He is also survived by his sister, Jill Austin (Ludie)

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson, Henry Parker Weiand.

Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with graveside services following at Saltillo Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time Monday at Pegues, Saltillo.

In lieu of flowers please make all memorials for Redeemer Church Building Fund in Saltillo, Mississippi.
