Jack Chancey

Saltillo - Jack J. Chancey, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 8,2010, at Methodist East in Germantown, Tennessee. He was born August 13, 1934 in Franklin County, Arkansas to Grady and Ina Chancey. As an honor graduate of Ozark High School in 1952, Jack went on to earn his B.S. in Business Administration from Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Arkansas. He wed Mary Richards in December 1956. Jack began his professional insurance career with State Farm Insurance in California in 1957. While with State Farm, he earned and was certified with his CPCU and CLU designation. Jack retired after 34 years with State Farm as Claims Superintendent of North Mississippi. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tupelo, Mississippi where he served as Chairman of Deacons and Sunday School teacher for many years. Jack was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and loyal friend. A man of few words with Godly character.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Dr. Gayle Alexander and Brother Chad Grayson will officiate. The family will hold a private interment service later at Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, Mary Richards Chancey of Saltillo, Mississippi: two daughters, Rochelle Flatt (Paul) of Saltillo, Mississippi and Jacquelyn Jones (Earl) of Tallahassee, Florida; one son, Craig Chancey of the home, who lovingly referred to his father as Mel; three grandsons, Jace Flatt of Starkville, Mississippi, Thomas and Stephen Jones of Tallahassee, Florida; three sisters, Yvonne Woolsey (Denver) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Wilma Schuler (Wayne) of Basehor, Kansas and Brenda Honey (Tony) of Fort Smith, Arkansas: two brothers, Ben Chancey (Carolyn) and Grady Chancey, Jr. (Ermel) of Ozark, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Ron Blackwell, Craig Chancey, Jace Flatt, Paul Flatt, Earl Jones, Stephen Jones, Thomas Jones and Jack McFerrin. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church led by Dr. John Bowlin.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
