Mooreville - J. B. Payne, Jr., 63, passed away, Thursday, May 11, 2017. He was born July 13, 1953 to J. B. and Hazel Brock Payne and was raised in Tater Hills. He drove a truck for a number of years and retired from roofing after 20 years. J. B. was an avid hunter and fisherman. On May 27, 1988, he married Pamela Deaton. J. B. loved his children and grandchildren. He attended Crossroads Church and was Baptist by faith. J. B. was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors are his wife of 29 years, Pam Payne of Mooreville; children, Dewayne Kemp (Patty), Danny Kemp (Stephanie), Matthew Kemp (Bridgette), Scotty Brazil (Lecole), George Gale (Terri), Ryan Payne (Jesse), Amber Taylor (James "Scooter") all of Mooreville; grandchildren, Jonathan Davison, Michael Zaccheo, Matthew Zaccheo, Katelyn Chilcoat, Kate Bug Kemp, D.D. Long, Alex Gilmore, Serenity Kemp, Dakota Brazil, Haley Brazil, Sabrina Gale, Leah Williams, Jacob Williams and David Williams, Zoey Payne, Sam Taylor, Christopher Taylor and McKinnley Taylor; great-grandchildren, Isaac Zaccheo, Lilly Garcia, Ashton Franks and Jace Gilmore; siblings, Gary Little (Chris) of Vila Rica, Georgia, Michael Ellis, Vicky Milton (Chuck) and Patty Byers (Jackie) all of Memphis, Tennessee, Terry Joe Payne and Rose Payne of Mooreville; step-mother, Bessie Sheffield and long-time friend, Guy Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Barbara Parker and Effie Mae Payne; uncle, Erie "Big" Gilmore, Jr.; aunts, Pat Carr and Lil Nubin Payne; grandparents, Sam B. Payne and Erie and Liler Gilmore.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Minister Leon Willis will be officiating the service and graveside services will follow in Gilvo Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Kemp, Danny Kemp, Matthew Kemp, Scotty Brazil, George Gale, Ryan Payne, James "Scooter" Taylor and Bennett Garvin.
