Isabelle Mattos

June 22, 1919 — April 7, 2009

Tupelo - Isabelle Madeline Mattos, 89, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the Laney House of the Green Houses. A Portugal native, she was born June 22, 1919 to John and Rita Dias Silveira. Formerly of Fresno, California, she was a published poet, writing many poems, an artist and avid reader. She loved to do crocheting and working in her garden. She had lived in Tupelo for the past several years to be closer to her daughter and was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

Visitation and services will be at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Service in Fresno, California. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of local arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Diana McKeown and husband, Tom, in Been Salem, Pennsylvania, Kathleen Awala of Tupelo and Julie Ray and husband, Jerry of Belden; two sons, Frank Mattos Jr. and wife, Pam, of Clovis, California and John Mattos and wife, Debbie of Easton, California; one sister, Hilda Mattos of Fresno, California; one brother, Joe Silveira of Easton, California; six grandchildren, Marshall Holmes and wife, Lynn of Oceano, California, Monica Jones and husband, Kevin of Tupelo, Jason Mattos of Fresno, California, Nicole Awala of Tupelo, Andrea Pierce and husband, Matt of Selma, California, Joey McKeown of Benn Salem and Seth Mattos of Clovis; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Kayla, Isabelle, and McKenna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Mattos on January 23, 1985.
