ISABELL SCOTT Sherman - Isabell Scott, 93, died Monday, March 2, 2015, at Homeplace in Saltillo after an extended illness. She was born June 5, 1921 to the late Ples and Arvie Holt. She was married to J.C. Scott for 56 years. Isabell was a resident of Sherman where she lived until age 91. She worked 40 years at Joyner Fields in Sherman. She later worked for MS Samples where she retired at the age of 83. Isabell attended Sherman Baptist Church and was also the oldest member. She had 8 children and many more that she loved as her own. She was known by many different names, such as "Isabell", "Bizzyhelle", "Mother", "Mamaw" Mamaw Scott", "Mamaw Belle", and "Ms. Izzy". She was well known for her great cooking such as her fried chicken and peach cobbler, never knowing how many she would be feeding. A Celebration of her life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Jefferson Street Chapel. The Eulogy will be presented by her Grandchildren. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include one son, Johnie " Buzzy" Scott (Sheila) of Tupelo; three daughters, Sue Neeley (Jim) of Memphis, TN, Linda Barnes (Garry) of Rogersville, AL and Peggy Gregory (Mike) of Tupelo; two daughter-in-laws, Merrill Scott of Tupelo and Patsy Scott of West Memphis, AR, 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sula Stanford of Saltillo; three sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sons, Jerry Wayne Scott, Billy Joe Scott, David Scott, and Jack Scott; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to service time Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Homeplace of Saltillo, 200 Knight Drive, Saltillo, MS 38866, Sanctuary Hospice, 5159 West Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38801 or a charity of your choice. We would like to recognize the Homeplace of Saltillo facility for the outstanding care and love shown for "Ms. Izzy" during her two years of residence.
