IRENE McWHIRTER Saltillo - Irene McWhirter, 97, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks. She was born in Chickasaw County on August 5, 1915 to Floyd and Mary Maude Alford Naron. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include her son, Robert McWhirter (Cathey) of Saltillo; four grandchildren, Mitch McWhirter (Laura) of Saltillo, Robbi Roach of Guntown, Sandy and Mike McWhirter of California; her step-grandson, Brad Harlow (Christy) of Saltillo; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Naron (Martha) of Houston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, Robert Mitchell McWhirter. Pallbearers will be Merrill and Bobby Albert Chrestman, Sam, Van, and Mitch McWhirter and Brad Harlow. Visitation will be 12, Noon until 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
