IRENE CHAMBERS Tupelo - Irene Champagne Chambers, born Nov. 2, 1917, passed into heaven on Wednesday May 14, 2014, at the age of 96. She was a long time resident of Yonkers, New York and for the last four years was a resident of Traceway Manor in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was a registered nurse who worked for years as a surgical nurse in Yonkers General Hospital. Formerly she was president of the Westchester County Women's Medical Auxilary and scholarship chairman. Irene was a long time communicant of Christ the King Church, a president of her Monday Club in Yonkers, and devoted wife and mother, a strong supporter of education at all levels, an avid reader, and prayerful child of God. Her family will miss her terribly but know she has better things to look forward to as one of God's angels. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014, at All Saints Episcopal Church. The service will be co-officiated by The Rev. Paul Stephens of All Saints and the Rev. Lincoln Dall of St. James Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, New Jersery. She is survived by two sons, Arthur Chambers of Tupelo and Kenneth Chambers of Washington, N.J. and six grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Arthur L Chambers, 2d and her daughter JoAnn Inman. Visitation will be 12 noon until 1:15p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014, in Parish Hall at All Saints Episcopal Church.
