Ione Nannette Shaw
Mooreville- Ione Nannette Shaw, 66, died peacefully after an extended illness on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at the Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch. The only daughter of Walter Russell Shaw and Winnie Mae Harris Shaw, Ione was born on June 3, 1956 in Collierville, Tennessee.
She was a woman of faith and conviction, whom at an early age accepted Christ and continued to faithfully worship Him her entire life. Although her health did not recently allow, she attended Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy.
Ione was a very talented athlete; although she was an accomplished basketball player in her younger years softball was her main pursuit. She actively played for over 20 years. Although she didn’t prefer pitching, she was a talented left-handed pitcher holding the record for four straight years for the fastest pitch. After her playing days ended, she continued being active in her daughter's softball endeavors. Ione had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing.
Ione loved her family and took great pride in being involved in their lives. She especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ione leaves behind her adored family including her two children, Darlene Arnold Crum and her husband, Michael, of Corinth, and Kelly Wade Courtney of Mooreville; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and one additional expected in December; one brother, Larry Shaw and his wife, Jill, of New Albany; one niece, Rhiannon Shaw Fisher and her husband, Robert of Huntsville; and two nephews, Richard Russell Shaw of Tupelo, and Harris Robbins Shaw of New Albany.
She was preceded by her parents, Walter Russell Shaw and Winnie Mae Harris Shaw; and infant daughter, Pamela Arlene Arnold.
Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Union Grove Cemetery with her sister-in-law, officiating, Rev. Jill Shaw.
Pallbearers will be Michael Crum, Blake Arnold, Brandon King, Richard Shaw, Harris Robbins Shaw, and David Crum.
