TUPELO - Inez Hatley Elliott, 80, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born on March 23, 1928, in Wren to John and Elvia Hatley. She was a longtime resident of Mooreville. She was a former employee of the Elvis Presley Birth Place and Visitors Center and Middleton Office Supply of Tupelo. She was a member of the Mooreville United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Gither Elliott. She loved growing her flowers and working in her yard, and the special time she had with her family.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors of Tupelo with the Rev. Sammy Washburn officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Carr and Suzanne Fowler, both of Mooreville; one son, Gary Elliott (Kathy) of Oxford; one sister, Naomi Riley of Nettleton; one brother, J.D. Hatley (Helen) of Nettleton; three grandchildren, Brian Carr (Laura), Leslie Covington (Jason) and Paula Elliott, all of Oxford; one great-grandchild, Ella Covington of Oxford.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be David Riley, Danny Riley, David Elliott, Benny Farr, Jason Covington and Joe Criddle.
