ILENE DUKE

Tupelo - ILENE DUKE, 85, died Thursday, December 28, 2006, at Green Houses At Traceway after a brief illness. A native of Glenn Mary Alabama, she was born August 4, 1921 to the late John Dennis and Linnie Lee Miller Dickinson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Lakeview Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. Earlier in her life, she had worked at Hunter Sadler and Milam Manufacturing. She enjoyed flower gardening and keeping a well manacured yard. She was an excellent cook and loved spending time with her friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Robert Garland and Rev. Harold Adair, Rev. Lamar Grisham officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, James Duke of Tupelo; one son, Jim Duke and wife, Cynthia, of Pontotoc; two grandchildren, Hannah Duke of Pontotoc and Leslie Duke and wife, Lori, of Ashland; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Elizabeth Duke.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Donald Dickinson.

Pallbearers will be Lamar Grisham, Harold Adair, Jim Pitts, Gerald Wages, Charles Hudson, and Carl Vinson.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
