VERONAMrs. Ida L. Sheffield, 80, died Monday, January 9, 2006, at the Rosewood Residence after a brief illness. A Lee county native, she was born September 12, 1925 to the late Jeff and Lou Ella Cooper Richardson. She was a long time resident of Verona since 1952. Mrs. Sheffield was a member of the Lee Acres Church of Christ and worked in the restaurant business. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Services will be 2:30 Wednesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Minister Jerry Grammer officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include one son, Rubel Sheffield and wife, Margaret of Shannon; one sister, Chloe Sullivan and husband, Pete, of Nettleton; one brother, Dan Green of Nettleton; two grandchildren, Sherry Riner, Brenda Gilbert and husband, Allan, all of Plantersville; four great-grandchildren, Chip Riner, Dalton Riner, Hunter Gilbert, and Jacob Gilbert, all of Plantersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, P.W. Sheffield, two brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Gary Sullivan, Carlos Sullivan, Chip Riner, Dalton Riner, and Allan Gilbert.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
