Ian Boswell

July 26, 1982 — October 21, 2024

Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Tupelo

Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Tupelo- Ian Andrew Boswell, 42, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. Ian was born July 26, 1982, in Flowood, to Tim Boswell and his wife, Kathy Sewell Reece.

Ian grew up in Tupelo, where he graduated from Tupelo High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s in Risk Management from the University of Mississippi, but Ian’s heart was never confined to a desk. A true free spirit, he followed his passions wherever they led him. He had a love for cooking, and embraced farm-to-table living, growing organic vegetables and vibrant flowers, which he shared generously with others.

In keeping with his selfless and generous nature, Ian gave the ultimate gift in his passing—he was an organ donor, offering the gift of life and a second chance to those in need. His legacy of kindness and compassion will live on through the lives he saved.

An avid sports fan, Ian was fiercely loyal to the Ole Miss Rebels, the Chicago Cubs, and the San Francisco 49ers, never missing a chance to cheer them on. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, music, golf, and getting lost in a good book. He cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, George, who was always by his side.

Ian leaves behind his mother, Kathy Reece, and stepfather, Keith, of Tupelo; his special friend, Inez Melendez; a host of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a wonderful group of friends who have provided great support for him and his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tim Boswell; two sisters, Kati-Beth and Ilisabeth Reece; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Joe Sewell and Dr. and Mrs. George Boswell.

Visitation will be 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Trace State Park Lake in Belden.

A celebration of Ian’s life will be 3 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Trace State Park Lake, with Pat Ward officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Baker, Luke Kellum, Jordan Pitner, and Josh Smith.
